The
Institute is now inviting applications into either its M.Sc programme in
Petroleum Economics, Policy and Strategy or M.Sc in Energy Management
and Policy.
Programme Objectives: Generally,
the main objective of the MSc programme is to train individuals to be
professionally and intellectually equipped for the management of the
Petroleum and Energy industries. The programme provides a balance of
economics, energy management, policy and strategy issues in the
upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry
as well as the renewable energy and power industries. It also equips
graduates for careers as corporate managers, analysts, policy
specialists, advisors and resource persons to the private and public
sectors.
The programmes emphasize innovation
and a problem-solving approach. The curricula are delivered in modules
by top class university faculty and industry experts from Nigeria and
abroad.
On completion of the programme, the
graduates, should amongst others, have acquired skills that are relevant
for careers in the Nigerian and global petroleum and energy industries;
be able to work
in multinational project
teams; possess skills and values for corporate leadership; evaluate and
plan for the management of petroleum and energy assets in a sustainable
manner, and make investment decisions taking cognizance of the risks in
the business and political environment.
Admission
Requirements: Candidates must possess a minimum of Second Class (Upper
Division) Bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences,
Engineering and Science. Sponsored company staff and candidates from
other disciplines with five (5) years’ experience in the petroleum and
energy industries who possess a Second Class (Lower Division) Bachelor
degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (on a 5.00 scale) may also be
considered.
Programme Duration: The duration of the programme is 12 calendar months of full-time study and
24
months of part-time study. Industry workers can also audit modules of
their choice for their professional advancement as well as earn credit
if desired.
Award of Degree: Successful
students at the end of the programme shall receive either the M.Sc
degree in Petroleum Economics, Policy and strategy or M.Sc degree in
Energy Management and Policy of the University of Port Harcourt.
Candidates will also be presented for National and International
Professional Certification programmes to enhance their skills.

Fee: A non-refundable application fee of 20,000 Naira in certified bank
draft made payable to the Emerald Energy Institute, UNIPORT
The

bank draft at the Emerald Institute office or be sent by courier service
with a pre-paid Fedex self-addressed envelope for acknowledgement.
