This is to inform the general public that the Governor of Ebonyi state Chief Martin Elechi
has spoken to general public based on the ongoing strike in Ebonyi State University, yesterday at EBBC Abakaliki.
In his speech,he made the general public to understand that the state is not happy about the strike and that it was the student who caused it, stating that the Students last year embarked on a violence protest based on lack of light and water. And now this year February the students embarked on another violence protest because of increment in school fees, which lead to the destruction of some school property and which equally claimed some lives.
Chief Elechi said that the school was shut down in other to stop further destruction of school property moreso he said that the students should not expect Ebonyi State University to be run as a charitable organization, the security men at school gate will continue even when the school resume in other to maintain tranquility and that the people that have been arrested and proven that they were involved in the protest will be prosecuted in the law court.
Chief Elechi finally said that resumption of school has been handed over to the school senate to decide the date stating the terms and conditions for the students to resume.
