Sahin, 23, had been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool's
Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are in the
market for a midfielder
following the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona.
However, it is
reported the Gunners were seeking a loan deal for Sahin that included an
option to make the
move permanent at the end of the season - something
Madrid were not keen on.
The Reds have this week emerged as
favourites for Sahin's signature, and on Saturday they confirmed on
their official website a deal is in place, subject to physical tests at
Melwood.
The Turkey international signed for Real from Borussia
Dortmund in 2011 but he has struggled for first-team opportunities in
Spain, making just four La Liga appearances last season.
